Dear Colleagues,

After 24 years I’ve reached the point where I have had to make the difficult decision to  cease private obstetric care.

It has been an absolute honour to care for my pregnant patients, walking them through the uncertain days before handing them, hopefully, a healthy baby at the end.

The decision to stop was a very hard one, and there remains deep mixed feelings but the relentless demands of being on call have been the major factor.

However, I look forward to continuing to practice Gynaecology, with a weekly operating list at Kareena Private Hospital, consulting 2-3 days per week. Up until this past year I have no-gapped all gynaecology procedures, but have now had to move to a Known Gap policy, to hopefully reward those families paying for private health insurance.

I am also still available to see pregnant ladies whether my old patients or not, either in the early days of a pregnancy, or later if a second opinion is requested regarding decision making.

It has been a pleasure and a privilege.

Kindest Regards,
Ian Simpson
